Genmaicha is a blend of Japanese Sencha and brown roasted rice, which sometimes pops during production and resembles popcorn. The white popped rice parts are also lovingly called "flowers" in their origin. This creation originally arose accidentally when a tea garden employee roasted his rice for lunch in the same pan that was subsequently used to process the tea. Light roasting notes underline the typical Sencha taste.
